Jones Bros’ crucial work on the Tywyn Coastal Defence Scheme filled the airwaves over the Easter weekend, receiving television and radio coverage.
Reporters from Welsh station Radio Cymru and S4C’s news programme Newyddion interviewed Jones Bros staff to find out more about how the £6m project will strengthen coastal defences in the Meirionydd town.
Jones Bros Project Manager Geraint Thomas faced an early start on Easter Saturday to get ready for his breakfast interview on Radio Cymru, while commercial manager Ruth Jones and construction manager Dilwyn Davies faced the BBC cameras for Newyddion.
The coverage coincided with the last sea delivery of rocks for the defence works at Tywyn.
Managing director of Jones Bros, Huw Jones, praised the coverage his team had received.
“A very important part of our job when carrying out projects like this one is keeping the community informed of the work we are carrying out on their behalf,” Huw said.
“However, I know from experience that facing journalists, cameras and microphones can be a nerve wracking experience. Geraint, Dilwyn and Ruth did a fantastic job representing our company and thoroughly deserved their Easter Bank Holiday break!”
Alongside the broadcasts, the Jones Bros team has kept the community in Tywyn updated on latest developments on the £6m coastal defence project through a dedicated Visitor Information Point near the beach and a page on the Jones Bros website.
Prior to the launch of the project, Jones Bros Contracts Manager John Dielhof made a presentation to Tywyn residents and businesses at a public meeting at the town council.
Geraint and Dilwyn have also made a presentation to a local school and hosted visits from Construction Skills students.
Before Easter, Jones Bros has launched a competition for school children in the area, to help them understand more about the important work going on to protect their town. |
