Jones Bros strengthens management team with key appointments

North Wales civil engineering company, Jones Bros, has strengthened its management team with two key appointments.

Graham Gibson, 54, has joined the expanding family firm as Senior Manager, Materials, taking charge of developing new business and increasing the company’s self sufficiency initiatives in major construction and engineering projects throughout the country.

Ivan Rawlins, 48, has joined as Senior Contracts Manager, with emphasis on increasing diversification and targeting new business in the north west.

Graham has a wealth of industry experience, having held prominent positions at home and abroad. He worked for three and a half years in Boston, USA, leading quarry operations with Bardon Aggregates, returning to Britain at the end of the 1990s. Before joining Jones Bros, he was a quarries director at Welsh Slate Ltd in Bethesda.

He said: “I have followed Jones Bros progress over a number of years, and watched it grow from being primarily a local company into a national operation with a highly skilled, experienced workforce, and projects throughout the UK. I relish the challenges of helping Jones Bros become a leader in the industry.”

Graham will oversee and develop the aggregates business, and work to increase new business opportunities via Jones Bros-owned Moel Y Faen Quarry on the horseshoe Pass, Llangollen. He hopes to develop the quarry as a prime resource for other companies nationally, as well as for Jones Bros’ own construction projects.

Originally from Derbyshire, he first came to live in Wales 25 years ago and now lives in Ceredigion with partner, Pentrefoelas–born catering manager, Manon. His three children, Paul, 27, Amy, 24 and Robert, 17, all grew up locally and are fluent Welsh speakers.

Civil engineering graduate, Ivan, was recruited for his expertise in brown field remediation projects. He has worked throughout the north west and has vast experience of collieries work, tunnelling, and other large scale earth-moving operations.

Before joining Jones Bros he was Contracts Manager with Yorkshire-based VHE construction.
He said: “ Jones Bros has the potential to be a major player in the industry. I am delighted to join the company at such an exciting time. It is increasingly being seen across the industry as moving towards the forefront of the field, as opposed to just being one of the pack.”

Ivan lives in Bolton with wife, Linda, two young sons and a daughter.
