Jones Bros Financial Director recognised in prestigious awards23rd Feb 2010

Osian ab Ifan has been recognised by his peers for his work as Jones Bros financial director.

He was named as one of the top three financial directors in the North West for companies with a £25m-£50m turnover.

The North West Finance Director Awards recognise the importance the role brings to the success of businesses.

After a rigorous nomination and interview process, short listed candidates were invited to a gala dinner at the prestigious Lowry Hotel, Manchester.

Osian was nominated by Barclays Commercial Bank, one of the sponsors of the event. Osian said: “I was honoured to be nominated and even more honoured to make it to the top three. I have to congratulate Chris Stephenson who won the category over-all on the sterling work he is doing for his organisation.”

Ruthin-based Jones Bros has seen significant growth in recent years. Over the last decade its turnover has increased from £12m in 2000 to £38m in 2008-09.

Founded in the 1950s, the family-run firm, is one of the UK’s leading civil engineering companies with a wealth of expertise in developing highways, building infrastructure, providing waste management and remediation services, devising coastal and flood protection, road construction and managing complex logistics for renewable energy.

Jones Bros is currently working on about 20 contracts around the UK.

The North West Finance Director Awards were established in 2009 by financial recruitment firm Sharp Consultancy with support from Barclays Commercial Bank, Grant Thornton and Halliwells.

This year’s event, which took place in February, attracted 170 guests.

The judging panel included James Cliffe from Barclays, David Grundy from Grant Thornton, Mark Halliwell from Halliwells and Chris Sharp from Sharp Consultancy and they will be joined by last year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, former finance director and CEO of Speedy Hire PLC, John Brown.
