The Role

We are looking for an organised, capable and confident individual to join our dynamic organisation as a Purchase Ledger Assistant. The successful candidate will join our Purchase Ledger team reporting directly to our Group Accountant.

The role’s responsibilities will include:

  • Processing of invoices and credit notes accurately and efficiently
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders
  • Processing credit card transactions, including coding of receipts and invoices
  • Ensure weekly subcontract payments are processed accurately in timely manner
  • Issue subcontractor remittance and payments weekly
  • Assessment of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deduction on purchase ledger & Subcontractor invoices.
  • Liaising with site management, commercial staff to resolve queries and facilitate approval
  • Contacting suppliers with any queries and requesting credit notes were required
  • Building and maintaining good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Effectively managing the purchase ledger aged creditor reports
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements
  • Performing `call backs` to verify new and existing suppliers/subcontractors bank details

The role is for temporary with a view to permanent employment.

Pre-requisite qualifications and capabilities

To be successful in this role you must have the following attributes:

  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly with varying groups of people and adjust your style accordingly
  • Self motivated to work alone and collaboratively with a team
  • Confident with Microsoft Office
  • Enjoy working with people

Experience in this area would be beneficial but a good attitude towards learning along with the above attributes is most important.

We believe in developing our staff through building experience on the job as well as further academic and professional qualifications where appropriate for the individual. The opportunity for support to complete an apprenticeship, or other appropriate academic or professional qualification may be available if appropriate.
